Perishing?
Saturday, May 26th, 2007There's a verse around the middle of the bible that says, "The concept of a God is foolishness to those who are perishing".

I thought about this for a while and began to realise the plight of the unbeliever. While the unbeliever will ridicule and mock the believer for being stupid or out of touch, that very person is described as perishing. It's the perishing that don't even realise that they are just that, perishing.
It is certainly easier to ridicule someone for their own beliefs if you have no concept of faith. Of course it is hard to grasp the idea of an unseen God. The thing is that you aren't going to physically see Him unless you first ask Him to impact your life. That is the point when you accept that He does exist.
What would it be like to perish without knowing it? This kind of person is generally ignoring their spiritual side and judging someone else who actually has a spiritual side. That is a very personal thing. I mean God will speak to us individually through His creation, another person, a Dream, a Vision or with His small quiet voice. So to tell a believer that they are foolish is a very judgemental statement, and in doing this they judge themselves.

Many have told me I'll believe there is a God when He comes back to strike me down, or after I die. Well the bible says that will be too late, you will face eternal judgement in a place that keeps you uncontrollably uncomfortable, forever. A place that keeps throwing all that you did against your creator God, back in your face, for eternity. God says that He will say "I don't know you", because you simply didn't take the time to know Him, freely, while you had a chance. While you are still on Earth you have the chance to get right with God and honour Him as king of your life. Giving total sovereignty to Him over your humble life.
It seems to me that we are all fooling around with our eternal existence here. Australia has fast become a Godless society, treating God as a foolish joke. He is not a God that would interfere though. He wants us to interact on the subject of who He is. That is the main reason we are all on Earth, I believe. To tell each other about our creator, and make that supreme eternal judgement for ourselves, is God a foolish thing or am I?
