Generation I O U

Monday, July 9th, 2007

What do today's leaders really think of children?  When they have started charging them for everything from education to driving down the road to drinking water.

Thanks to this generation of leaders, today's young couples will never know what it's like to buy a home in the city on their own.  Is this their future?

I've personally had enough of advertisements about spending the grandchildrens inheritance or how hard it is to pay for home insurance.  This is all done by a generation that got free milk at school, free dental and medical, and free road use everwhere.  They have endured cheap entry level housing in the suburbs and low interest rates up until the 80s.  God commands us in His word to leave a great inheritance for our childrens' children.  That's right up to our grandchildren people!  If you believe there is a God, like myself, then you need to believe in that sort of ………. GIVING ATTITUDE.

The Lord our God says to look after the widows, orphans and children or expect an unfavourable outcome for ourselves.  It seems that many parents today would treat their own as orphans.  We need to give them a future that is an improvement and not a mess.

It seems it is too late to change the mentality of this generation in command.  It seems too late to stop corporate Australia keeping this young generation in debt before they are even born.  The more we become forgetters of those we leave behind, the more we lose ourselves.

It is very disappointing to see politician's kiss children on the cheeks during the election lead up, and then virtually slap the other cheek once they are in.  The way it is certainly going, only God can save us now.  We need to pray for a new way to manage our country that is fairer for those that are left holding the bag.  We need to pray for Godly men and women in power that see the true power that should be over all of us.  The power to love one another, and never see our own ideals over the interests of this new generation.  Generation I O U.

Global Warning

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

Wow, aren't we all getting our backs up over Global Warming, and everyone is an expert!  As long as they don't speak from a spiritual perspective.

If you are one of those weathermen who continually get the basic weather wrong, you get a say.  If you are an El nino / La nino history watcher you get a say.  If you dare mention that God who created it all may be up to something then you get no say.  One things for sure, God is getting everyones attention over the weather.  He always has because of our fear with storms and earthquakes.

If there was no climate change then a lot fewer people would start praying to God when the heat is on.  Damaging weather gets it all into perspective doesn't it, our fragility that is.  Suddenly we are either asking God to take it all away or loving blaming Him for all of our problems.  The fact is God would rather test us through the storms of life than to see us go through Life without Him.

Pollution is a huge problem, and the fact is we all contribute to the very industries that are killing the Earth.  We all are guilty of buying Chinese products on the one hand and complaining about the smog coming from that part of the world on the other hand.  We see the cheap price for their products and make the purchase that ensures the continuation of pollution from China.

Our obsession with cheap products, pay half price and throw it out after a year is rife.  Our economical maturity is waining and causing the damage of the century.  Where is it leading us?

Jesus came and calmed the storm on the Lake of Gallilee for the disciples, and I believe He can calm our current one.  Particualrly the storm in our hearts over what to do with our world's problems we see.  He said to humble ourselves and stop pointing the finger, because we often don't know what the real reasons are.  He said to be a servant and not a controller.  He said give yourself a lower position than others and He would raise you up.

If we all gave more time to pray and seek God on what to do next, things would turn.  If we would ensure everthing our nations did in the name of production was more adapted to our neighbours needs then things would turn around.  If we only truly treated each other in Love rather than what can we sell each other then it all would all change.  So next time we get concerned about the environment we are leaving behind then let's think about what's best for all, and not just the small space we take up.
